Restaurant vouchers: will we still be able to use them to shop in supermarkets ?

More and more restaurant vouchers are being used in large stores and supermarkets, but the idea of ​​a cap is disrupting discussions between Bercy and professionals.

Where can we still use restaurant vouchers? This is the question that a large number of French people are asking themselves. While 96% of beneficiaries wish to be able to continue to use these vouchers on the shelves according to a study carried out at the request of the National Commission for Restaurant Vouchers (CNTR), restaurateurs, initially hostile, have resolved to do so. .

The ceiling at the heart of the debates

Paying for food shopping with these tickets was the objective of this measure extended to the end of 2023 to promote the purchasing power of the French. Many employees want to see this continue over time. But the Minister Delegate in charge of Business, Tourism and Consumption Olivia Grégoire, must present by the end of the month the "new" restaurant title, reports Le Parisien.

"Going back will be difficult. Since we cannot go back on this enlargement, we must contain it. We need a double ceiling for the use of restaurant vouchers", indicates Patrick Bouderbala, president of the CNTR who was opposed to this expansion of eligible products.

Currently, 25 euros per day can be spent by an employee on restaurant vouchers. According to our colleagues, this ceiling should concern expenses made in restaurants, bakeries and caterers, while the daily ceiling for mass distribution should be lower.

The idea of ​​a double ceiling is being studied by Bercy but may seem complex from a legal point of view. While French employees have been using more and more restaurant vouchers on the shelves since 2022, the next meeting between Bercy and professionals should make it possible to resolve the issue.
