Resumption of the consultation on the draft of the Great park of the West

Reprise de la consultation sur le projet de Grand parc de l’Ouest

Montrealers have until 31 August to talk about the “Grand park of the West”, the flagship project of the administration of Valérie Plant to create a huge park of 3000 hectares in the west of the island.

The consultation process was halted last march due to the pandemic, has been re-launched Monday, in virtual mode, via the platform Realize Mtl (realisonsmtl.ca). It is also possible to leave a telephone message at 514-618-5831.

“Despite the distance physically, it is important for us to consult the population of montreal for this flagship project that will set the metropolis of tomorrow. It is therefore with enthusiasm that we go forward with a public consultation which will take place online and will establish a collective vision unifying and inclusive to the Large park to the West,” said the mayor of Montréal, Valérie Plante, Monday.

The project to create the largest park under municipal jurisdiction in Canada had been announced during the summer of 2019. Subsequently, the City has acquired 175 acres of land, to make them protected areas.

Some lands were dedicated to real estate development previously, so that the promoters of the project, Cape Nature have launched a lawsuit of more than $ 178 million against the City of Montréal, among others.
