Singer Rihanna will voice the character Smurfette in a new Smurfs animated film that will take the poster on February 14, 2025.

The Paramount Pictures studio made the announcement on Thursday at CinemaCon, the major annual meeting of American cinema exhibitors, which takes place this week in Las Vegas. 

Present on site, Rihanna also revealed that she will write and perform the music for the film, in addition to getting involved in the project as a producer. The feature film will be directed by Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse). 

Rihanna has made several appearances in the cinema over the past few years. She was seen alongside Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock in the action comedy Debbie Ocean 8, released in 2018. She also starred in the sci-fi film Valerian and the city of a thousand planets, by French director Luc Besson. The singer was recently nominated for an Oscar for her song Lift Me Up, from the movie Black Panther: Long Live Wakanda
