Riverdale, Grey's Anatomy, Legacies, NCIS… the series that return (or not) in 2022/2023

Which series will disappear or return to American television? If we are also very busy with series from platforms like Netflix or Disney+, we must not forget that the US channels also broadcast many shows like Riverdale, Grey's Anatomy, Legacies or even NCIS. But then, which series will return (or not) at the start of the school year? PRBK tells you everything!

Every year, it's the same: the month of May is crucial for the future of our favorite series. It is during this period that each channel announces its schedule for the coming season. And in 2022/2023, several series will be missing. Didn't follow any announcements? We sum it all up for you.


Renewed: ABC still trusts Shondaland and has already ordered Season 19 of Grey's Anatomy and Season 6 of its spin-off, Station 19. Another medical series from the channel, Good Doctor will have a season 6. Also back next year? The Rookie: Los Angeles Cop (Season 5), The Goldbergs (Season 10) and Abbott Elementary (Season 2). Likewise, the following series will return next year: A Million Little Things (season 5),Big Sky (season 3), The Conners (season 5),Home Economics (Season 3) and The Wonder Years (Season 2).

Cancelled: Season 8 of black-ish which ended in April was the last. The channel also ended the novelty Queens after one season.


Renewed: Completely unstoppable, the NCIS franchise will be back for next season with season 20 of the original series , NCIS Los Angeles Season 14 and NCIS Hawaii Season 2. Another successful franchise? FBI. All series are renewed for two additional seasons namely: FBI (for a season 5 and 6), Most Wanted Criminals(for a season 4 and 5) and FBI: International (for a season 2 and 3). The channel also still trusts Young Sheldon: the spin-off The Big Bang Theory is renewed for a season 6 and a season 7. Also on the program next year ? Bob Hearts Abishola (Season 4), CSI: Vegas (Season 2), The Equalizer (Season 3 and Season 4) and Ghosts (season 2).

Cancelled: Season 6 of Bullis the last and the finale will be broadcast soon on the channel. CBS has also decided to end Magnum after 4 seasons and the series B Positive after two seasons. Also cancelled? Good Sam with Sophia Bush after one season and United States of Al.


Renewed: On the FOX side, it's still very vague! The channel only renewed its animated series like The Simpsons (for a 14 season), The Griffins (for a 21 season) and Bob's Burgers (for a 13 season).

On reprieve: Almost all of the channel's series are on reprieve for the moment. The 9-1-1 franchise with 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star is set to return for a season 6 and 4 respectively but nothing is official. Also in danger? Call Me Kat and The Resident. Will the medical series which lost a new main actor be entitled to a season 6?

Cancelled: The series The Big Leap n there won't be a season 2, just like Pivoting and Our kind of people.


Renewed: Chicago is still popular on NBC, which has renewed the three series: Chicago Fire (season 11), Chicago PD (season 10) and Chicago Med em> (season 8). Same for Law & Order with, in addition to the reboot of New York, judicial police for a season 22, the new seasons of New York: Special Unit (season 24) and Law & Order: Organized Crime (season 3). The channel also announced that season 5 of New Amsterdam will be the last and renewed LaBrea for a season 2 and Young Rock for a season 3. Blacklist will also have a season 10 while season 4 of Manifest > will be broadcast on Netflix.

Cancelled: Season 6 of This is Us, which will air on May 24, will be the last. Also cancelled? Ordinary Joe after one season and Kenan after 2 seasons.

The CW

Renewed: Riverdale will be entitled to a season 7 which could be the last. The CW has also renewed All American (for a season 5) and its spin-off All American: Homecoming (for a season 2). The Flash will have a season 9. Also renewed: Kung Fu (season 3), Nancy Drew (season 4), Superman & ; Lois (season 3) and Walker(season 3).

On borrowed time: We still don't know the fate of Stargirl whose season 3 has not yet aired.

Cancelled: This year, the CW cleaned up and canceled 9 series, namely: Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, Charmed, Legacies, Roswell: New Mexico, Naomi and 4400. The final season of Supergirl ended in late 2021.
