Rotterdam: Félix Auger-Aliassime starts the defense of his title well

A year ago, Félix Auger-Aliassime won the first singles tournament of his career, in Rotterdam, after dropping the flag eight times in the final. The Quebecer was back in the Netherlands on Tuesday and defeated Italian Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.
L he initial stage of the defense of the title of “FAA” passed through the dangerous 60th racket of the ATP, which he crossed for the second time only. The 22-year-old put an end to the debate in two sets like the first time, and this, in just 1 h 22 min.
Auger-Aliassime was imperial in the service by placing 64% of his first balls in play. Thirteen of them were aces and he won 86% of the points on his first serve.
Sonego looked overwhelmed as he was unable to save any of the three break points he faced. He only managed 12 winning shots, against 21 for the Montrealer.
The third favorite in Rotterdam will face Frenchman Grégoire Barrère in the second round. Coming from the qualifications, he beat the Belgian David Goffin in straight sets 6-0 and 7-6(3).
