Tragedy in the Netherlands. On the evening of this Thursday, a man armed with a knife attacked several people near the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam. During this attack, at least one person died, another was injured, and the stabber was also injured and taken to hospital, reports the media outletDe Telegraaf.

“At first I thought there was a fight”

During this attack, it was a passerby who was able to intercept the perpetrator in the middle of the street. This sports coach, whose name is Reniël Renato David Litecia, 32 years old, did not hesitate to subdue him and became the hero of the Dutch port city.

“At first I thought there was a fight. I wanted to calm them down, but when I got closer, I saw that something else was happening. A man with two long knives stabbed an innocent young boy. When I screamed, the man with the knife turned around and became aggressive towards everyone around him. My client, who I was training, was already safe at that point. I asked him to call 911,”, Reniël Renato David Litecia explains.

"I ran to my bag and grabbed a squat pole. I broke it in two. When the man reached the door, I stood there. I slapped him a few times,” he added.
