The power of one of the major tourist Islands of Spain are tired of tourists who get fines for illegal behavior, and then just leave the island without paying for them. Now the local police got the right not just to prescribe penalties to violators of law, but just take them to the ATM so they can pay the bill, writes the Express.
The measure was another to combat the side effects of mass tourism, said “Interfax”. Other measures include a ban on the consumption of alcohol on several Central streets and beaches of Palma, the ban on food on the street from five to eight in the morning. Also threatening fines for going Topless, vandalism and other disturbance.
“All these bans are useless, if the charge for violations would not collect from. Tourists should understand that they will have to pay, and now they just laugh at our police,” according to local activists.
Mallorca is the largest island located in the Western part of the Mediterranean sea, the Spanish archipelago of the Balearic Islands.
