South Africa is on a run of two consecutive wins against Australia. MAXPPP – KIM LUDBROOK

Former captain Sam Cane returns to the All Blacks ahead of the Rugby Championship match in South Africa on Saturday in Johannesburg, where New Zealand will try to take revenge on the Boks after losing the World Cup final last fall.

This will be the Waikato Chiefs player's first selection since his exclusion for a dangerous tackle in the World Cup final, lost 12-11 to South Africa at the end of October.

A remake of the final of the last World Cup

For this 3rd day of the Rugby Championship (the main competition for nations in the southern hemisphere), the Blacks also have their captain Scott Barrett back as expected, absent from the first two matches against Argentina (finger injury).

After an opening defeat against the Pumas (38-30), New Zealand hopes to confirm the recovery seen in the second match against Argentina (42-10 victory).

To challenge an unbeaten South African team, the Blacks will however be without their prop Ethan de Groot, injured in the neck, as well as the second row Patrick Tuipulotu and the fullback Stephen Perofeta, both injured in a calf.

This will also be New Zealand's first match since Scott Robertson parted ways with one of his assistants, Leon MacDonald, amid disagreements between the two technicians.

The composition of New Zealand

Beauden Barrett – Will Jordan, Rieko Ioane, Jordie Barrett, Caleb Clarke – Damian McKenzie (o), TJ Perenara (m) – Ethan Blackadder, Sam Cane, Ardie Savea – Tupou Vaa’i, Scott Barrett (cap.) – Tyrel Lomax, Codie Taylor, Tamaiti Williams

Replacements: Asafo Aumua, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Fletcher Newell, Sam Darry, Samipeni Finau, Cortez Ratima, Anton Lienert-Brown, Mark Tele’a

The match will be broadcast on Canal + on Saturday 31 August at 17:00 (French time). The two nations will face off again on Saturday 7 September in Cape Town (also broadcast on Canal + at the same time).
