Rugby: Saint-Affrique wants to finish with a victory against Sigean
|Saint-Affrique ne jouera pas les phases finales cette saison. Midi libre – Michel Durand
Les phases finales sont loin pour Saint-Affrique qui veut tout de même terminer cette phase régulière sur une bonne note, à Sigean (15h).
It is a trip for honor that Saint-Affrique will make to Sigean. The Saint-Affricains are now 6th with 46 points ahead of US Thuirinoise (47 points) who have just obtained a bonus point which changes the situation. The fight for fourth place will be played out elsewhere. The chance of the calendar will pit Thuir (5th) and Elne (3rd tied with 50 points). A crucial match for the two teams who want to finish in the top quartet to be certain of participating in the play-offs. "We absolutely want to obtain fourth place, indicates Paul Bourget, president of Thuir. Sunday, we absolutely have to win at home even if our opponents are in good shape. We must not forget that they beat us at home last year."
Sigean relegated at the end of the season
Even in the event of a bonus victory for RCSA and a defeat for Elne without bonus, the Saint-Affricains would take fifth place. In view of the results of the 18 groups which play in Federal 3, the RCSA is not among the two best fifths which will participate in the play-offs with the 4th group. A bitter observation for Guillaume Bouissou, the coach of the RCSA: & nbsp;"The awarding of this extra point is really not good news. We can only hope for a fifth place and we are not the best ranked in this position. Regardless, the goal is a 5-point victory. We need to end the season with a good result." A desire for victory that we also find in Jacques Laffon, the president of the Sigean club who will be relegated at the end of this season: "This is the last match for us, it ends a not great season with a lot of problems. We will try to finish in the best possible way. We want to achieve a good result and then we will move on to prepare for the future." It will be a full afternoon of rugby with three matches, the first of which will concern the team women's rugby union in Sigean. With a somewhat limited workforce at the B level, the RCSA will be keen to achieve a good result to close this season.
