Les Saint-Affricains ont assuré l'essentiel ce dimanche après-midi avec la réception de Trèbes (30-27).
The pressure was on the side of the Saint-Affricains who were obliged to achieve the result this Sunday against Trèbes. After conceding a penalty in the 2nd minute of play, they got their hands back on the ball and scored a forceful try which was flattened by Courdy. The opposing reaction was not long in coming since practically on the dismissal, the Audois scored their first try through the Gramont center.
Both teams return blows
We then witnessed a game with disjointed play where the teams went blow for blow. The Saint-Affricains were unable to put their game in place and favored direct play that was often unproductive and punctuated by numerous mistakes. Trailing 13-10 on a Murcia penalty, they finally scored their second try on a ball carried flattened by Turpin.
The technical sheet
Faced with the Audois who favored the game of movement, playing practically all their penalties by hand in order to accelerate the pace of the match, the locals often practiced axial play. On one of the highlights of their opponents, they made a mistake and conceded a penalty try giving the Audois the advantage. An advantage which will turn into a tie thanks to a successful penalty from Castan shortly before the break (20-20).
Sterile Domination
At the restart, the South Aveyronnais occupied the opposing camp and territorially dominated their opponents. Very present in the fight, they showed themselves incapable of producing play, committing too many mistakes or clumsiness in the last movement. Against the flow of play, it was the Audois, on a recovery ball, who scored an additional try by their winger Constant. There was then a quarter of an hour of play remaining, the Saint-Affricains occupied the opposing camp and, once again, brought their power to bear to score a try thanks to Guipal on a carried ball (27- 27). Five minutes later, they regained the advantage thanks to a new penalty from Castan (30-27, end of match). The Audois' final attacks were not enough to change the match. The Saint-Affricains finally won by three points in a game that will not be remembered in terms of play.
