Homme fort d’Auch ces deux dernières saisons, le Toulousain Lucas Larré-Larrouy sera un renfort de poids, notamment pour les lancers en touche.

“Last season, he hurt us a lot”, Guillaume Aguilar has not forgotten. In Auch, on the pitch at the Jacques-Fouroux stadium, he got the better of his Nîmes opponents.

In both the closed scrum and the running game, Lucas Larré-Larrouy had left his mark on the Nîmes staff. “He is a brilliant hooker, aggressive on the man, very explosive and a hard worker” summarizes the manager of RC Nîmes.

He has already traveled a lot

Born in Toulouse, Lucas Larré-Larrouy is an experienced player who has worn the colours of Stade Toulousain, Montauban, Béziers, Périgueux and Cognac.

Over the last two seasons, he was one of the strong men of the Gers team Auch. This dynamic 26-year-old hooker has already been around the French rugby fields.

Second preparation match against Berre-l’Étang

The Nîmois will play their second preparation match on Friday, August 9th at Berre-l’Étang (l’Arc stadium at 7 p.m.), a F&eacuterale 1 club which, last season, played – and lost – an 8th final against Orléans, the first opponent of Nîmois on August 31st.

After Carcassonne (National) where the RCN conceded an honourable defeat (36-21) after having delivered “a big fight”, this meeting is part of the desire to face teams of a different level.

Last year, we had excellent matches against the teams at the top of the rankings and, conversely, poor performances, often at away, against poorly ranked teams", explains the NÎmois manager Guillaume Aguilar.

"I started this sport at the age of five at Salvetat-Plaisance, a small club near Toulouse before joining Stade Toulousain in the minors", he says. He continued with the junior Crabos of Montauban, then the Espoirs of Béziers where he joined the training center.

Then he headed to Périgueux (2020-2021) and Cognac – Saint-Jean-d'Angély (2021-2022), two Nationale clubs.

Wanderings that led him to meet some of his current teammates like Baptiste Sparano with whom he shared four seasons in Montauban, Lucas Gulizzi in Béziers or Marius Vialle in Périgueux.

A leitmotif: “Always moving forward”

The former third row is therefore not arriving in unfamiliar territory. And this is what particularly pleased the manager of the RCN, Guillaume Aguilar, who recognizes that this played a role in his recruitment. “He knows a few players here and that helps his integration."

Explosive, runner, good ball-snatcher, Lucas Larré-Larrouy is a player whose leitmotif is to "always move forward". We also note, on the Nîmes staff side, that his arrival is linked to the failures last season in the touchline sector. “We called on him because I wasn't satisfied with the throws”, the Nîmes technician clearly states.

A new adventure that he wants to “live to the full”

Lucas Larré-Larrouy wants in any case to register for the long term with the RCN where he has signed for the next three seasons. “The club's project and its ambitious side seduced me, he assures. That fits my temperament." And this new adventure, this new challenge, he wants to "live them to the fullest".
