The Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec will begin to perform conduct examinations of the practices from June 15, for all classes of licence.
The SAAQ confirmed on Wednesday the resumption of examinations. Clients with the appointment of practical examination was provided in march, April or may and who have completed their training will be contacted in priority.
For motorcycle (classes 6A, 6B and 6C), a grid of online appointments will be available from the 11th of June.
This forced break of three months will not be able to catch up quickly.
“We will be able to resume classes from Monday. We are very happy. There will be a delay and a rush even next year, ” said Lise Champagne, president of the Association of driving schools of Quebec (AECQ).
Approximately 100 000 licence learner drivers are issued each year. After a break of three months, the AECQ, therefore, believes that 25 000 holders are waiting to move to the next step.
Schedules appointments for driving tests of a car (class 5) and a heavy vehicle (classes 1, 2 and 3) will be open online starting June 22.
In order to ensure the safety of all, health measures will be in place. In the case of the examination of driving a car and a heavy vehicle, the vehicle of the customer will be particularly disinfected before and after the test. The SAAQ strongly recommends its customers to wear a mask during future reviews.
“For some, obtaining a license allows you to have access to essential services, educational institutions or in jobs,” said Francois Bonnardel, minister of Transport.
