Saint-Louis Festival in Sète: the Gaston-Macone Gold Cup, a trophy coveted by all the people of Sète

This Friday, August 23 (9 p.m.), 48 jousters from the societies of Sète will compete to register their name on the list of winners of a tournament inseparable from the Saint-Louis. Because a foretaste of the Grand Prix, but a bit chauvinistic…
If you are a jouster, heavyweight or middleweight, and your company is located beyond the Quai des Moulins or the Canal des Quilles, you are of course welcome to the Coupe d’Or, this Friday evening. But in the stands.
We do what we want
It's Saint-Louis, it's the city of Sète's festivities, so we allow ourselves a little non-guilty pleasure. The Coupe d’Or is for the people of Sète. We do what we want. The "foreigners", they can come on Monday. There are already a few of them who could win the Grand Prix, we shouldn't push Granny into the canal…
At the same time, with no fewer than seven companies for the Singular Island alone, there is no shortage of jousters. And not the least. You only have to linger a little over the tournament's list of winners to understand the interest that the big nighttime event can generate.
Big names
Sébastien Abellan, Olivier Soula, Benjamin Arnau, Maxime Molto, Simon Caselli… And so many others. Sitting at the table of these great champions is a privilege, Adrian Lisanti will not deny it, he who won this famous Gold Cup last summer during an evening that certainly took a long time to end.
Let the music play! (Or not)
Tonight, there will be 48 of them on the floor. Not sure that the quayside bars will make their biggest figure of the weekend. Because it will be a battle. The many contenders know the music well, the one coming out of the sound systems will have to wait until a champion is designated. And that risks, therefore, taking a little time.
Spoilt for choice
From the outset, it's going to start strong with Yoan Jammes (APSM), nothing less than a candidate for victory… hellip; on Monday, against Christophe Bancilhon (JLS), winner of the Gold Cup in 2019. Immediately followed by Valentin Fabre (LAS), one of the symbols of rising youth, Anthony Principato (APSM) who notably won a tournament heavyweights this season, Maxime Dalmon (JLS) who is part of the "executives" of the circuit, Adrian Lisanti (LAS) the title holder or even Jonathan Ragno (LAS), unfortunate finalist of the last Grand Price. And this will only be the beginning of the tournament.
If he has not made his market among these first contenders, the public will still be spoiled for choice when making their predictions. On the blue, will then come Loïc Cerrato (LAS), winner in 2018 alongside Fabien Chazal (APSM, who will be on the red), Fabien Rojas (LSS) and Sébastien Abellan (JLS) who still have them under the bulwark, and of course Simon Caselli (LAS). On the red, there will be a few customers, like Alain Le Bail (APSM), the latest winner of a regional tournament, Léo Causse (APSM) or even Théo Birba (APSM ), two young people capable of overturning the table at any moment.
When they say that there is everything you need in Sète…
