Japanese researchers announced the discovery of a new, 168 species of animals. About his discovery, the scientists reported in the journal PLоS One.
The creature was named Macrobiotus shonaicus. It turned out that the animals are able to reproduce in laboratory conditions that is observed infrequently. In addition, the researchers noticed differences between the genome of a new species from genome relatives.
Externally a previously unknown species is almost indistinguishable from the other. The creature also has an elongated body, four pairs of legs and a round mouth with several rows of teeth. Meanwhile, the eggs of animalcules have an unusual feature. They have a spherical shape and have processes similar to noodles. According to scientists, with their help, the eggs can attach to any surfaces. Probably this gives the offspring Macrobiotus shonaicus more chances of survival. Finally, to shed light on these and other features will help new research.
Tardigrades are microscopic invertebrates that are close to the arthropods. The size of the body of these beings is 0.1–1.5 mm. It is translucent and includes four segments and the head. Most professionals interested in the amazing endurance of these invertebrates. If there come adverse conditions, tardigrades can go into a state of suspended animation for years, reviving when conditions change. Creatures capable of 30 years to stay at -20 °C and 20 months in liquid oxygen at -193 °C.
