100 days from its theatrical release, the sixth part of the Scream saga is gradually being revealed. So few official details have leaked out so far, the web has been teeming with gossip and nuggets of information since a first image recently surfaced. While we wait for the first trailer, due in December, here are six facts and rumors about this highly anticipated Scream 6.

Shot in Montreal

The shooting of this new Scream took place right here in Montreal. throughout the summer. But don't expect to see Ghostface stalking his victims in front of the metropolis' most famous landmarks; the plot will take place in New York, where the survivors of the last massacre have taken refuge.

If they believe they are safe far from the streets of Woodsboro, they will soon be overtaken by the demons of the past.

The Story

Like previous chapters, the plot of this new Scream is jealously guarded by the film crew. However, some information has leaked on the net, suggesting that this new series of murders will occur during a marathon of horror films from the Stab saga in a cinema, for the occasion converted into a morbid museum dedicated to Ghostface.< /p>

It is by learning of the disappearance of the nine masks used by past killers who were hitherto exposed there that moviegoers will smell the new threat that awaits them.

Sans Neve Campbell

< p>The news caused quite a stir when it was announced earlier this year: Neve Campbell will not be reprising the role of Sidney Prescott, whom she championed five times, from 1996 to 2022. The actress made this tough decision after to fruitless negotiations regarding his cachet. “As a woman, I've had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my worth, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt that the offer presented to me did not match the value I brought to the franchise,” she said in a statement sent to Variety magazine.

Farewell, Gale Weathers?

A popular rumor on horror blogs is that the character of Gale Weathers – played by Courteney Cox since the first chapter – finally succumbs to Ghostface's attacks in this new film.

Why? Because the duo of filmmakers would like to completely free themselves from the past of the saga to fully appropriate it. With Sidney Prescott removed from the plot and Dewey Riley dead in the previous chapter, only the star reporter remains to zigouler to start again on new bases.

The return of Stu Macher?< /h3>

The same question comes up with every movie: who will hide under the mask of Ghostface? Filmmakers and killers. And with new faces like Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Tony Revolori, Devyn Nekoda and Samara Weaving, bets are off.

But a lingering rumor indicates it could be none other than Stu Macher who is the star. perpetrator of these murders, a popular theory that he did not die after committing the murders in the very first film. That said, there may very well be more than one killer in this new storyline, so the mystery wouldn't be entirely solved.

“More Violent”

If multiple Scream fans deemed the final chapter a little too, shall we say, sweet, will be happy to hear that the next film is set to return to the bloody roots of the saga. In an interview with the American magazine Variety, Jenna Ortega promised that we would find there “the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface ever seen”. This is something to reassure fans of hemoglobin!
