Trail des Amazones/5e édition. Dimanche à Saint-Jean-du-Pin, l’Alésien s’est imposé pour la quatrième fois sur le 17,5 km. En toute tranquillité.

"Every time I pass through his hands, the next day, I win!" Sébastien Smargiassi dedicated his victory, Sunday in the Trail des Amazones, in Saint-Jean- du-Pin, to his hairdresser. This is the fourth time that the Alésien has won this race. Upon arrival, the man who took over the Smargiassi garage in Alès – a garage which has just celebrated its sixtieth anniversary – above all wanted to pay tribute to his grandfather Domenico, who died two years ago to the day.

His grandmother came to encourage him and saw him win. The 17.5 km course (107 classified), 655 m of positive altitude difference with percentages at 15% halfway, Smargiassi (Forza Seb/Domessargues Running) covered it in 1h24'20''.< /p>

He won quietly, relegating Tanguy Wacheux (Arles, 1h29'07'') to almost five minutes. Christophe Cabanis (ACN Anduze, 1h30'11'') completes the podium.

"It was a real trail course , very technical. We had to stay very focused until the end", explains Sébastien Smargiassi, happy, too, to have run for a good cause.

Organized by the Les Amazones d'Alès association, which helps people with cancer by offering them comfort activities, the event made it possible to raise €4,000, which will be offered to the Alésien salon Coiffure by Ema for the creation of a beauty treatment space for patients.

Sandrine Brujas first female

Among the females, Sandrine Brujas won in 1h44'41' '. "This is the first time I lined up on the long course, underlines the representative of Alès Atac. It was very physically hard but very interesting. This allows you to surpass yourself and fight for a good cause." Brujas beat her club partner Carole Roux (1h55'10'') and Delphine Roland (Saint-Mathieu Athlétic, 2h01'31'').

On the 10 km (300 D +, 176 classified), it was Alexandre Pugniere, licensed at Alès C2A, in the race for the Alès Agglo 2024 challenge, who was the fastest, completing the distance in 45 '52''. A good preparation for the runner, eager to get in shape before starting his preparation for the French 10 km championships in Roanne in April. Pugniere dominated Gaëtan Armand (47'40'') and Jean-Emile Layrisse (Team Raidlight Cévennes, 48'10'').

For the women, Laure Boucena -Badon who, in recovery and present to accompany his father, concluded the affair in 56'27'', ahead of Delphine Codemo (59'40'') and Marie-Christine Cardona (Domessargues Running, 1h05'10'') .
