New blood
Serge Denoncourt as he staged In Extremis at the Théâtre de Quat-sous , in 1987. A graduate in theater at Cégep Lionel-Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse four years earlier, he was only 25 years old. It was the first time that an institutional theater called on such a young director for such a play which deals with attempted rape.
Young founder and director
In 1989, Serge Denoncourt, who five years earlier had co-founded the theater company Opsis (at the age of 22), was its artistic director. He then put on the play Possibilities, directing six actors who played 38 roles on stage.
“You shouldn't expect anything when you go to see this play”, he said with the frankness that we know him.
Workaholic
Honored at the Soirée des Masques in 1994, the first awards gala in the history of theater in Quebec. This gala was canceled in 2008. Serge Denoncourt has so far signed some 110 stagings, often at the rate of four or five per year! He has been awarded several times.

Le beau Serge, while he was re-editing Il Campiello by Goldoni in 2010, a play that had been a big success from his Opsis theatre, 20 he then shared the concerns of the Venetian playwright. It was 13 years ago.
All the way to Scotland
Photo published in 2012 when Serge Denoncourt was returning from Edinburgh, Scotland, where he had staged the play Les belles-sœurs by Michel Tremblay in its English version, The Guid Sisters . A big success and praise for the director who had really enjoyed working with “absolutely wonderful Scottish actresses”.

▸ The director is very present everywhere in France with I'm going to love you, a great musical about life and the work of the sacred monster Michel Sardou, 25 songs revisited following the story of six friends. Also, the show Bernadette de Lourdes (the young girl who saw the Virgin Mary) created in Lourdes which resumes in Paris, then on an international tour.
▸ The director is also working on the megaproject Tribute to heroes on the Normandy landings, whose 80th anniversary will be celebrated in 2024.
