Shadowhunters season 4 : the creators reveal what you would have to see

Despite the mobilization of fans, Shadowhunters will not be entitled to a season 4. And yet, the show runners had ideas ! After the release of the final split into two episodes available since this Tuesday, may 7, on Netflix, Todd Slavkin and David Swimmer are unveiled which would have had to happen in the fourth season. Warning, this article contains spoilers about the end of season 3.

It is finished… After three seasons, Shadowhunters came to an end in the beginning of the week on Freeform in the U.s. and on Netflix in us. In this final episode, Clary (Katherine McNamara) sacrificed his powers and his memories to destroy his brother Jonathan (Luke Baines). The final scene was shown a year later when she was reviewing Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and the show runners have explained the importance of this moment. But of course, this end was not the one who first been imagined for season 3.

The original ending of season 3

Prior to the announcement of the cancellation, the show runners Todd Slavkin and David Swimmer had a different idea for the conclusion of the third season and launching the fourth season of Shadowhunters. The scene with Izzy (Emeraude Toubia) kissing Simon (Alberto Rosende) before being surrounded by flames (in episode 21) was originally intended to conclude season 3. It would therefore have been the last scene of the series if Freeform had not ordered the movie.

Here’s what should have happened in season 4

Clary and Jace : The episode did not end in the best way for fans of the couple Jace/Clary. And they will be even more frustrated since the season 4 promised more of normalcy for the duo. “It would have taken the time to heal from the guilt she feels to her passing dark and the horrible things she has made (…) Jace would have helped him to regain a normal life. I think that Jace and Clary would have been able to have a relationship more normal” has entrusted Todd Slavkin to Entertainment Tonight, adding that a marriage would have even been contemplated.

More time for Magnus and Alec : In the final episode, Magnus (Harry Shum Jr) and Alec (Matthew Daddario) were married. A union that would not have happened so soon. “We would have taken our time, the marriage would not have taken place on the same day” has entrusted Todd Slavkin to Entertainment Weekly. The other thing that would have taken more time ? The group’s mission to Edom to rescue Magnus. “It would have been several episodes in season 4, “explains David Swimmer.

Seelie Queen would not be dead : If season 4 had in fact taken place, the fate of the Seelie Queen (Lola Flanery) would have been different and she would not have died, or at least not as quickly. His relationship with Jonathan would have been explored, as is the case in the novels of Cassandra Clare. “Their relationship would have lasted during the first 10 episodes of season 4, “say the show runners to TVLine.

Changes at the Institute : Another plot teasée : the return of Luke (Isaiah Mustafa) at the Institute. “This would have led to many changes. It would have been great. He would have been able to interact with all the world, to be part of that” they explained.

The past of Helen unveiled : The couple Helen (Sydney Meyer) / Aline (Eileen Li) would have had to be put more in front and you would have learnt more about Helen. “It is the eldest of four children. She has brothers and sisters that we have met, “said Todd Slavkin.

Simon and Izzy , Simon, and Izzy are well put together, but it would not have had to be so fast. “We built this relationship patiently and that would have been explored more in depth for several seasons, “said David Swimmer.
