Une femme de 38 ans, est décédée dans la nuit du vendredi 11 au samedi 12 octobre 2024 après avoir été mordue par un hamster qu’elle avait chez elle.

In rare cases, rabies and bacterial infections can be transmitted through a hamster bite. Owners who are bitten by their rodent are advised to wash the wound to reduce the risk of infection.
