Des gendarmes noirs d’Uzès ont été la cible de propos outrageants et discriminatoires.

A forty-year-old woman appeared this Friday, June 14, for insults of a racist nature against gendarmes in Uzès. The events took place in the Saint-Hippolyte-de-Montaigu sector where the gendarmes were carrying out a check which gave rise to outrageous comments about the soldiers.

In fact, the neighborhood had called to report that a lady was drunk and causing trouble after an establishment had refused to serve her coffee. It should be noted that she was quite drunk and had an alcohol level of 1.54g/l. She would have watered the end of the work in her kitchen… Elizabeta, a 47-year-old from Nîmes, was in a state of drunkenness at the time of the intervention (December 11, 2023) and during which she made racist remarks to two black gendarmes (a man and a woman). "You blacks, you know slavery", she said during her arrest.

To the black woman, "You, the black girl, are a bitch, shut your mouth !". In a state of intoxication, more than one gram of alcohol per liter of blood, she then showed her buttocks to the gendarmes to complete her misconduct and her racist remarks. Elizabeta N. was therefore judged for contempt of a person holding public authority committed on grounds of race, ethnicity, nation or religion and for rebellion. David Malicot, the deputy public prosecutor, requested that the defendant be sentenced to six months in prison. She was sentenced to three months in prison with suspended probation, with an obligation to provide care and compensate the victims. She is also ordered to take a citizenship course. President Samuel Serre also indicated that the defendant will have to pay 500 euros to each of the gendarmes who were a civil party in the trial.
