Ce 27 juillet 2024, des médecins vietnamiens ont retiré une anguille vivante de 64 cm de l’abdomen d’un homme de 31 ans. Le poisson commençait à ronger ses intestins.

The gruesome discovery was made at Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi on July 27. A 31-year-old Indian man presented himself to doctors, claiming to be suffering from excruciating abdominal pain, reports Vietnam News, as reported by the NY Post.

“The eel had bitten the patient's rectum and colon”

How shocked they were when they discovered a live eel, 65cm long and 10cm in circumference, in the patient's intestines. He admitted to doctors that he had put the fish up his butt earlier in the day and that it was now trying to escape, which explains his terrible abdominal pain.

The patient was immediately examined and underwent several imaging tests, including an X-ray that showed the eel skeleton was in the abdominal cavity.

“The eel had bitten the patient's rectum and colon to escape into the abdominal cavity,” said Le Nhat Huy, vice director of the department of colorectal and perineal surgery.

Doctors tried to remove the foreign body through the man's anus, but made another discovery. A large lime that the man had also inserted into himself was blocking the passage. The medical profession therefore opted for emergency surgery, indicates the NY Post.

The phallic-shaped creature was safely removed

They then cut open the patient's torso and discovered the live eel. After checking that there were no other foreign bodies hiding in his body, they stitched the man up. Surgeons also performed a colostomy to prevent feces from passing through the cut caused by the eel's bite.

The phallic-shaped creature and the lemon were then safely removed.

“Eels can survive in anaerobic conditions for a long time and have the ability to bite through the gastrointestinal tract,”, one of the doctors warned.

Viet Duc Hospital has removed bottles, cups and adult toys from patients' anuses before, but this is the first cases involving a live animal. However, doctors have said that they have already dealt with this type of patient. These are usually young men inserting objects into their anus for their own sexual pleasure.
