A septuagenarian was found dead in the garden shed where she lived on Sunday March 3, 2024 in Yvelines, France. Half of his face and one of his legs had been devoured by rats.

In a small village in Yvelines, Jeanine, 75, was found dead by an acquaintance, Sunday March 3, 2024, in the garden shed which served as her home, says Le Parisien.

The retiree was discovered by an acquaintance. She was lying on the floor, next to her bed. Half of his face and his left leg had been devoured by rats.

Widow, family breakdown

The septuagenarian had lived in this shed for around ten years, among the rats and her seven cats. She had no running water and cardboard and fabric for insulation. According to information from our colleagues at Parisien, Jeanine had been a widow for several years and no longer saw her two sons following a family breakdown.

Volunteers from the Red Cross had raised the alarm about the situation of the septuagenarian at the end of 2022. Good souls were also doing their best to help her. The resident of a neighboring village made "almost daily" visits to her cabin, offering water, soup, compote and a little conversation.

Funeral this Monday

In recent months, the old lady had been placed under guardianship. The septuagenarian will be buried this Monday, March 11, 2024 in the municipal cemetery after a religious ceremony.
