The collaboration between the gendarmerie and the municipal police is strengthened.
"We are not in a security whiff. We are working for the quality of life and the attractiveness of Saint-Chély-d’Apcher."Philippe Castanet, Prefect of Lozère, simply justifies the first security contract signed as part of the Small Towns of Tomorrow (PVD) program, this Tuesday, August 13, 2024, between Christine Hugon, Mayor of the Barrabande city, Lieutenant Colonel of the gendarmerie Éric Enjalbert and himself.
This document sets out on paper the collaboration between the municipal police and the gendarmerie. The latter will notably provide the municipality with referents (security, domestic violence, elected officials, environment, school, and cyber). In addition, it is planned that she will be able to travel to the homes of vulnerable people.
“Strengthening ties”
A lot of work will focus on prevention.“For example, there will be information campaigns for the population and economic players to make them aware of existing tools to prevent potential burglaries, such as the Tranquility Vacation and Tranquility Business schemes”, explains Christine Hugon.
“From our point of view, when we talk about quality of life, it goes without saying that security support is essential, believes Lieutenant-Colonel Éric Enjalbert. This part of the Small Towns of Tomorrow program was an opportunity for us to, to update our existing protocols and contracts, as well as to strengthen ties with other security stakeholders in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher. With this tailor-made offer, which has been adapted based on a shared observation, we will be able to go even further."
Fourteen municipalities in Lozère are adhering to the PVD program. Philippe Castanet is already anticipating the interest of other cities and promises, as for Saint-Chély-d’Apcher, a contract that is as close as possible to the expectations of the territories.
