Snail operation for VTC drivers: disruptions in sight from 8 a.m. this Monday morning in Montpellier

Les VTC montpelliérains, par la voix de leur président, réclament une meilleure reconnaissance de leur métier. Cela passe par une manifestation qui ne devrait pas passer inaperçue.
Be careful of disturbances in sight. This Monday, January 15 in the morning, in addition to the usual traffic jams to access the city, mobilization could make access even more difficult. This mobilization is that of the VTC drivers of Montpellier. The meeting is at 7 a.m. in Grammont and will be followed by a snail operation on Antigone, Mermoz, the airport…
"We try to work as best we can"
The demands of these professionals revolve around recognition of their mission. "We absolutely want our profession to be taken into account, underlines Soufiane, president of the Montpellier VTC Federation. We are respected less and less. "We", it's the competing professions, the authorities… We get fined all the time! We try to work as best we can but we don't have the means to do it properly."
And the driver cited an example: "Customers call us from anywhere in the city, wherever they are. When it's Place de la Préfecture, as is often the case, it's problematic. There are cameras, you can't pick up a passenger without getting a fine. We must find a solution. Conversely, a taxi can get there without problem."
"The law of the jungle imposed by platforms"
The association, which estimates the number of VTC drivers in Montpellier at 500, requests a numerus clausus to establish regulation, that the town hall and prefecture put an end to the "law of jungle imposed by digital platforms, the attribution of "real locations" in the Saint-Roch and Sud de France stations as well as at the airport, the end of "abusive” and the possibility of accessing bus lanes during peak hours.
