Snowboard cross: Éliot Grondin wins in front of his family

UPGRADE DAY

In a scenario worthy of Hollywood, Éliot Grondin won the Snowboard Cross World Cup in front of his parents and friends at Mont-Sainte-Anne this afternoon. 

Wearing bib number one because of his victory in qualifying, Grondin dominated the final from start to finish to sign the third victory of his career and his second podium of the season to the delight of the supporting crowd present on the spot.

Grondin was just ahead of the Austrian Jakob Dusek who completed in force. Spaniard Lucas Eguibar completed the podium.

In the women's category, Audrey McManiman was involved in a collision at the top of the course in the quarter-finals and finished in 16th place.

The Crystal Globe champions will be crowned on Sunday at the final World Cup stop of the season.
