Soccer: a goalkeeper attacked by a supporter in the middle of a match
|UPDATE DAY
Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic may have put off many reckless fans who might be tempted to break into a soccer field during a professional game.
Thursday, during a Europa League duel, a PSV Eindhoven fan tried to attack the Croatian goalkeeper in the middle of the match.
Rather than running away from him while waiting for the security officers, Dmitrovic was hit by a punch before throwing his assailant to the ground and controlling him. Members of both clubs immediately rushed the fan to ensure he was no longer a threat.

“I had never seen anything like it,” said Dmitrovic, whose words were translated by the network ESPN, after the meeting. I'm not going to say what I would have liked to do to the [supporter]. I'm glad I was able to anticipate his moves and stop him.”
“UEFA have to do something. It has to stop,” he added.
Sevilla lost the game 2-0, but still advanced to the next round of the Europa League thanks to their 3-0 victory in the first leg.
In addition, Dmitrovic was not due to play the match of the day, but the Spanish club's trusted goalkeeper, Montreal native Yassine Bounou, fell ill just before the start of hostilities.
