“Special teeth”, “Jean and Nelly” ring… who are these seven unknown French women appearing in the Interpol appeal for witnesses ?

This Tuesday, October 8, 2024, Interpol launched an appeal for witnesses to identify 46 women and thus solve cold cases. All of these victims were found dead between 1982 and 2021 in France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany. Among them are seven French women.

A call for witnesses launched by Interpol in six countries including France this Tuesday, October 8, allows anyone with information to provide assistance in identifying one of the 46 unsolved cases made public. Among the 46 bodies, 7 women were found dead in France. Find out who these French women are who have not yet been identified.

The Unknown Woman of Saint-Denis

Several of these victims were found dead in the Paris region, including one in a vacant lot in Saint-Denis. She was born between 1992 and 2023 and was killed between 2015 and 2020, reports Le Parisien.

It was the remains of this young woman with dark eyes that were discovered in a garbage bag, more precisely a skull and leg bones.

The “Jean and Nelly” ring

The victim, probably aged 60 to 75, was found on 5 March 2008 in Villefranche-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes), in an isolated location. However, a very distinctive sign had been discovered: a ring with laurel leaves engraved on it, but also another inscription, “Jean and Nelly 25/06/1960”. She was wearing two other rings, one in blue stone, the other in red stone.

This woman was of large build and had a prosthesis on her left hip, notes the daily. This one was of the Langander brand, numbered L96211C and “likely to be part of a batch whose various pieces had been delivered to Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy”.

The woman “with special teeth”

This other victim from Île-de-France was found in January 1994 in the Bois d'Alix, in Lassy (Val-d'Oise). She was apparently killed between 1985 and 1993 and was probably 25 years old.

It was her teeth that caught the attention of investigators and gave her her name. Indeed, after examination, investigators noted the absence of two upper lateral incisors, thus, “her canines appeared directly next to the central incisors”, explains Interpol.

This woman who was less than 1.60 meters tall was carrying many objects on her, such as a bracelet with the inscription “Thierry”, three rings, a Movado watch, a Christ on the cross around her neck, an ankle chain

The woman with the dental crown Richmond

The body of this woman was discovered in Saint-Quirin in Moselle, in January 2005, but her death dates back to a few months earlier, in September or October 2004. She was probably aged between 35 and 47.

Her body was found in a plastic barrel for collecting Harcostar water that was wrapped in a black garbage bag. A similar container had been seen floating nearby in a river, the Red Sarre. The victim is believed to be from Eastern Europe or Russia.

This one had a Richmond crown on her jaw.

The pregnant woman with garnet necklaces

This unidentified woman was 35 years old when she was found dead in the Mimeure forest in Côte-d'Or in July 2001. It should be noted that the victim had been pregnant for several months, between 7 and 9.

Like several other women already mentioned, she too was found in a bag, but this time made from curtains. This unknown woman had her ears pierced nearly four times with gold hoops, had gold chains and garnet pendants around her neck.

The Girl with the 10 Pence Coin

A teenage girl was found dead, dressed, in Cellier, north of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), on November 25, 1982. The hunter who made the macabre discovery found only a skeleton. This young girl could have been killed between June and September 1982.

She was wearing several pieces of jewelry that could identify her, including a leather necklace with pearls, a key ring with Napoleon, a gold-plated metal chain with a bowling pin pendant around her neck. She had in her possession a payphone token and a 10 pence coin (British currency).

The woman with tattooed butterflies

The body of this 30-year-old woman was floating in the Seine and was found on April 17, 2016 and had possibly been killed a few days before. She had very distinctive markings on her body, many tattoos of animals.

A butterfly on her right hip, another on her left, yet another on her right upper arm, stars and a butterfly on her left ankle, a salamander on her right ankle, a flower on her hand, and yet more butterflies on her wrists, as well as letters that read “KAINA” on her back. A Venezuelan bill was found in her pocket.

For now, there are still many gray areas hanging over these unsolved mysteries and crimes. Interpol hopes that by launching this appeal for witnesses, people may recognize these victims.
