Touchée par l’initiative solidaire, l’artiste sétoise a dessiné de pavois offert pour le premier prix de la tombola organisée ce dimanche 1er septembre par la société de joutes, la Lance sportive sétoise.
La Lance sportive sétoise is organizing a rather special raffle on this Sunday, September 1st, for the benefit of the Dys Mille Pas association which works for hospitalized and disabled children. An initiative that touched the Sète artist Vivi Navarro. “I had promised to make them a creation on the shield of the winner of the raffle because it really represents important values of solidarity for me. So I wanted to make something that would rock them!", explains Vivi Navarro, who also suffered from a serious heart condition as a child.
"I almost died"
“I was 5 years old, I almost died and I was saved after being operated on by a teacher in Montpellier”, says the cartoonist. It is therefore a shield decorated with the Saint-Louis lighthouse that she imagined for the first prize of the raffle, the draw of which will take place before the rematches. And for the occasion, the Lance sportive society invited her to join the parade before the tournament, with a shield on her heart.
A motto “Sport and charity”
“Our motto is “sport and charity”, we have a long tradition of solidarity, recalls Fabien Rojas, one of the two co-presidents of the society created in 1921, and which therefore celebrated its 103rd anniversary this weekend. Six years ago when we took over the jousting society, we wanted to bring this tradition back into fashion", continues Fabien Rojas.
For the second year, it is to the Dys Mille Pas association that the Lance sétoise has chosen to donate the funds from its raffle. "This money will be used largely to finance a machine called Acuven 500 which is used by luminescence to make babies' venous systems appear, which allows them to suffer less during injections", specifies Yohan Fournié, the president of this charity and also a jouster.
