Quebec boxer Steven Butler will fight for a world championship belt on May 13.
According to BoxingScene.com on Monday, the 27-year-old pugilist would be the next opponent of Kazakh Janibek Alimkhanuly (13-0-0, 8 KOs). The latter holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight champion belt.
The clash would be Alimkhanuly's second defense and would be featured on the ESPN network.
Butler (32-3-1, 26 KOs) has won his last four outings, earning two wins before the limit. Currently, he is sixth in the WBO rankings in his weight class and holds the NABF middleweight belt, a minor title.
This would be Butler's second shot at the world championship. In December 2019, he lost against Ryota Murata, in Japan, in a duel involving the title of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
