Stopover in Sète 2024: the “little brother” of the Sète festival will take place in Port-Vendres, from April 12 to 14

La première édition d’Escale à Port-Vendres va se dérouler du 12 au 14 avril 2024. Le fruit d’un partenariat avec Escale à Sète qui valorisera le riche patrimoine maritime catalan.

Stopover in Sète is emulated in the Mediterranean. From April 12 to 14, the very first edition of Escale à Port-Vendres will take place in the port of the Pyrénées-Orientales. Almost obvious. The richness of the Catalan maritime heritage, with its four ports of character (Cerbère, Banyuls, Port-Vendres and Collioure), its Catalan boat workshop in Paulilles, its trades and its traditions… no longer needs to be demonstrated.

Fruitful meetings with Wolfgang Idiri helper, Port-Vendres, which like Sète has the particularity of having a port in its heart, will therefore also be the organizer of’ rsquo;une Escale, with its neighboring ports. "It will in some way be the little brother of’Escale à Sète", specifies Hermeline Malherbe, president of the Department of Pyrénées-Orientales, who has deployed significant resources to promote the Catalan Village on the unique island and use it as a launching pad for the future festival.

Prestigious boats present

Escale in Port-Vendres will obviously not have the scale of Escale in Sète. At least not for this first edition.

But it will still welcome some of the prestigious boats currently visible along the quays of Algiers, Morocco, République and Samary, in Sète: El Galeón, the Morgenster, La Grace, the Santa Maria Manuela but also La Belle Poule, the training boat of the French Navy. There will still be the Miguel Caldentey, a schooner formerly transporting citrus fruits, currently under construction on the Côte Vermeille. Prestigious sailboats to which the many Catalan maritime traditions will easily be added for a highly anticipated premiere.
