Strike at the Franciscaines Clinic: "Salaries are below the minimum wage, we want the planned increases"

At the call of the CFDT, nearly 60% of the staff of the Franciscaines clinic, joined by employees of the Grand Sud polyclinic and the ICG (Elsan group) demonstrated this Tuesday morning for the revaluation of salary scales

Signs, horns and good humor… In front of the Franciscan clinic, this Tuesday morning (and all day long) employees demonstrated for their salaries. "With twenty years of seniority, I only earn 1& ;nbsp;600 €", launches a nursing assistant on strike. Marylise, a colleague who works night shifts, complains:"We manage to be below the minimum wage which is increased every year. Our standard of living is falling and we are always asked for more. For two years, we have been carried around with rider 33."

Addendum 33

Heart of discontent, this famous amendment 33 signed in March 2023 between the government, the Federation of private hospitalization (clinics, nursing homes and hydrotherapy), the CFDT and the&rsquo ;Unsa. "It provided for the revaluation of all salaries because 70 coefficients are below the minimum wage, they have hardly changed since 2002", explains Delphine Delaunay, the CFDT delegate. It also provided for the security of Ségur bonuses which are not included in salaries.

"This amendment which was finally to be applied this year with retroactive effect provided that starting salaries would be 10 % above the minimum wage" , adds Christelle, a nurse at the clinic for 31 years. "Today, a nurse who is starting out is barely above the minimum wage", adds another.

For the CFDT, this amendment was the subject "of an unacceptable deal" at time of the threat of a private hospital strike in early June. "And now that amendment 33 is buried, we are asked to wait two more years, it’is not possible".

Staff also mobilized at the Quissac clinic.

In Quissac, all clinic staff were also on strike this Tuesday, asking "employers and the government to respect their commitment&quot ;.

Supported by the CFDT, the majority union in private hospitalization, and Unsa, this call for an indefinite strike forced the Franciscans this Tuesday to cancel outpatient interventions and appeal to temporary staff.
