High wind: restrictions and damage
#P-O, Aude. Snow on the heights and violent winds, especially in the plains… winter arrived on Sunday in a good part of Occitanie. In Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales, traffic in the upper cantons proved difficult on icy roads. In the P-O, the force of the wind led the prefecture to lower the speed of 20 km/h on Saturday on the A9 motorway. A limitation which also applies in Aude (A9 and A61) and continues this Monday. On Sunday, the tramontane blew at 170 km/h at Cap Béar. In Perpignan, the railing of a balcony was swept away. Catalan firefighters have intervened around forty times for falling trees or power lines.
Aude: open cellars
#Belcaire. The Carcassonne public prosecutor's office said on Sunday that it had opened an investigation into violations of graves. Five vaults as well as ten coffins were opened during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day in the cemetery of Belcaire, a small village in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude. The local gendarmerie as well as scientific services were dispatched to the site. But we still do not know the reasons which could have pushed one or more individuals to commit this desecration. The commune cemetery remains closed in any case until further notice.

#Frontignan/Grau-du-Roi. This Sunday nearly 200 bathers took up the challenge of the town of Frontignan for the first swim of the year. It took courage to take off the down jacket and jump into 12°C water with only 8°C in the air and a freezing wind. Same icy weather in Grau-du-Roi where some 615 swimmers took part in the traditional 9th first swim of the year organized by the Rotary Bay of Aigues-Mortes.
The temple of Anduze continues to change
#Gard. After the installation of the new framework in March – 48 pieces of wood of dazzling sizes, some of which are 22 meters long – the renovation of the religious building is entering its final stretch. Closed to the public since 2019, the temple of Anduze, the largest in the Cévennes if not in France (this title, in particular, is also claimed by that of Saint-Hippolyte-du- Fort), lives his last moments in self-sufficiency. Over the last few months, the teams and Alexandre Autain, the architect in charge of the project, have created the roof and the seven half-moon glass roofs reaching five meters in diameter arranged on either side of the building . All that remains is the finishing work… to be done carefully, the temple being classified as a historic monument. No precise date for the end of the work therefore, even if on the side of Alès Agglomération, project owner, the objective is an inauguration "during April/May".
Habitat France: uncertain recourse
#Montpellier. "Honestly, the possibility of customer refunds is close to 0". Claude Gaubert, president of the local branch of L’UFC-Que Choisir, is pessimistic about the outcome of the appeal of customers injured by Habitat France after the judicial liquidation of the group announced on December 28. Reimbursement is made, in fact, in order of priority of creditors. It will be the employees first, then the URSSAF, then the suppliers and finally the customers. And provided that they have declared their debt to the judicial liquidator. It still remains for those who had paid for their purchase by bank card to turn to their bank and hope to find a solution through insurance.
