Student cooks prepare 2000 meals for essential workers

DRUMMONDVILLE – Despite the closure of restaurants, the kitchen is the Centre de formation professionnelle Paul-Rousseau in Drummondville, runs at full speed. As of year-end review, students in cooking and pastry-making are required to prepare 2000 box lunches that will be offered free of charge to essential workers.

By the end of the day Wednesday, 120 quality meals will be prepared and delivered. The experiment is repeated several times per week in the kitchen of the training centre. It is a way of saying thanks to the front-line workers, said the head teacher Charles-Olivier Dubé.

It is also a way to join the useful to the pleasant for teachers and students of the institution. Normally, the final examination is to prepare and serve a full meal in the restaurant-school of The Pedestal table. Due to the pandemic, the teachers have revised the formula.
