Friday March 8, students in the first baccalaureate class option Commerce had the chance to visit the Alric tannery in Millau. Guided by technical manager Grégoire Seive, the students entered the genesis of luxury. They were able to observe all the work carried out by the 28 employees around lambskin.
Soaking the skins to remove the wool, followed by tanning in chrome salts, dyeing then drying and finally classification of the skins into 13 different categories according to their quality. These are expert professions and ancestral know-how that the students were able to observe.
Very interested, they were able to ask questions about the costs at each of the processing stages and about loyal customers, some of whom enjoy a worldwide reputation. Products that they will be able to see on the Parisian catwalks in the form of gloves, bags or luxury clothing.
