Many Quebecers prefer to invest in the renovation of their home rather than in a trip this summer.
This is what shows a survey of intentions of holiday ordered by the agency CAA-Quebec.
Thus, 26 % of the respondents think to spend their budget holidays differently this summer in particular because of the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
And these are not the projects that are missing for the visitors: 27 % want to use this money to repay their debts or to save, 19 % expect to renovate or make improvements to interiors, 19 % plan outdoor facilities. Others think turn to video on demand or video games (14 %), or still projects kitchen diy and sewing (14 %).
“Swimming pools, air conditioners, renovations… Quebecers have projects full the head,” said Nadine Bernard, director of consulting services home of CAA-Quebec, in a news release.
In that case, a data that emerges from the survey, it is the “very strong demand for heat pumps”. The organization notes that the number of tips relating to heat pumps has increased from 67 per cent in recent weeks compared to the same period last year.
The activities for which budgets have been reduced this summer are the following: cultural and sporting events (46 %), travel (45 %), clothing and leisure facilities (34 %), vehicle (20 %).
For those who had been planning a travel project, 50 % had to cancel or reschedule, indicates the survey. Approximately 31% of holidaymakers plan to spend their holidays at home, which is double compared to last year.
