Jean-Pierre Rico, Mayor of Pérols Midi Libre – MICHAEL ESDOURRUBAILH

The mayor's interview

Jean-Pierre Rico (Mayor of Pérols) : « Pérols has always been a festive city »

What do you expect from this summer season in Pérols ?

May we all have a great summer. Pérols has always been a festive city, a place where we share good times together. We have many events throughout the year, especially during the summer, where all generations like to get together to have a good time, watch the bulls and have a bite to eat together. Conviviality and celebration are essential during this period.

How did this 2024 season start? ?

It started strong and continued to grow throughout the month of July. From our first Mercredi du Terroir, we had a huge turnout, estimated at over 3,000 people. This year, the area was expanded and new tables were installed, which allowed us to welcome between 4,000 and 5,000 participants on our last evening. For us, it is nothing but joy to share all these moments with the people of Pérols, our traders and visitors. Unlike several coastal resorts, we have not noticed any loss of momentum in terms of turnout since the start of the season. And I hope that it will continue in this vein.

Exactly, how do you see the end of these summer holidays ?

Our traditional Saint-Sixte Festival starts this Saturday and will offer us, as every year, five very intense days. We will then have all the other events planned for this month of August, whether they are shows or many other cultural events. With only one watchword: may this summer be peaceful in Pérols!
