It is not possible to talk about associations without mentioning the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC). This real institution alone accounts for almost half of the city's associations. With its 4,000 members, it is the leading MJC in France in terms of attendance. Throughout the year, it offers around a hundred very varied activities, making most disciplines accessible. Its stands will of course be present all morning.

Every month, the Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) allows artists from all disciplines to go on stage freely for 15 minutes, whether they are musicians, dancers, actors or others. The first episode of the season will take place on Friday, September 27. A shared aperitif will precede the performances. To participate: registration required at the following address: animation@mjc-castelnau.fr.
To continue on this path, the following day, Saturday, September 28, the Hérault improvisation troupe Les Démons du Midi invites the public to a show mixing hilarious, absurd and surprising scenes with the participation of the spectators.

The mayor
Interview with Frédéric Lafforgue, mayor of Castelnau-le-Lez: « It is above all a moment of conviviality and exchanges »
How many associations do you have in Castelnau-le-Lez ?
Our city has nearly 200 associations, and this Sunday, 80 of them will be present for the Associations Forum. It has become a real tradition for more than ten years. It is a significant event that generally attracts many families. Young and old come to discover and choose what they want to do before the resumption of activities the following week.
What does this associative dynamism represent for Castelnau-le-Lez ?
It is above all a moment of conviviality and exchanges. People browse the stands of the associations, discover or rediscover various clubs. It is a rich mix of sports and cultural activities: you can find everything there, outdoor games, reflection, fitness… It is very complete. In addition, all the clubs are listed in our magazine “Castelnau passion”, available online on the city website, but also in all the displays and community centers.
How does the City support associations??
We provide financial assistance and although we are in a period of budgetary rigor, we maintain them and have even increased them. 575,000 euros net are paid to the associations, to which is added indirect support, such as the provision of buildings and equipment. There is real support at several levels. Not forgetting that we have a service specially dedicated to associations.
The unmissable
A profusion of associations
More than 200 associations for 25,000 inhabitants: the least we can say is that the people of Castelnau are fully involved in community life. Activities that allow young and old to have fun, learn, but also contribute to the city's entertainment during major annual events such as the Christmas festivities. An effort and commitment that has not gone unnoticed. The city was thus invited on October 10 to Rouan to receive the “active and sporty city” label. awarded by the National Council of Active and Sporting Cities (CNVAS).
An attractive city
The second largest city in the Metropolis, Castelnau-le-Lez stands out for its exceptional dynamism. This small town of only 25,000 inhabitants offers all the advantages of a large city. Whether in terms of services, in the educational, sports and cultural fields, but also in terms of jobs. There is no shortage of professional opportunities. In fact, more than half of the workers come from outside to carry out their activities. Not forgetting the mobility offer which will soon be strengthened with the arrival of the tram bus facilitating even more access to all the districts of Montpellier.
Mobilités en fête
As part of the European Mobility Week, the city is organizing a morning of activities on Sunday, September 22nd around travel. The activities start at 9:45 a.m. with a bike ride in Castelnau-le-Lez, followed by a disability awareness workshop with a blindfolded route with Castelnau Jogging. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be an introduction to Nordic walking with Castelnau Jogging, followed by a road safety workshop at 11 a.m. Lots of other activities are planned with free access. Details can be found on the city's website. Free, helmets are mandatory for children aged 12 and recommended for adults.
