This year again, the Midi Libre Summer Tour is coming to meet you throughout the summer season. New stopover for this fifth edition, this Sunday, in Barjac.

The Midi Libre Summer Tour will set down this Sunday, July 28 (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ;nbsp;h), in Barjac (Gard). Meetings, activities and games will be on the program for this new stage in the presence of our partner Pasino La Grande-Motte. Come many!

1 : Entertainment for young and old

As in previous editions of the Summer Tour, the Midi Libre stand present this Sunday, July 28 in Barjac will offer games and activities for young and old. Children will be able to take part in a treasure hunt, where they will have to find clues to complete a course and win many gifts. A one-armed bandit, the famous game of chance found in casinos, will also be on hand to occupy and delight the most playful. Enough to promise lots of laughs and great times!

2: A great celebration of organic farming

While the Midi Libre Summer Tour will be one of the attractions of this Sunday, July 28, the heart of Barjac will also vibrate to the rhythm of lovers of organic products and local crafts. Organized with the help of the Gard department, the twentieth edition of the organic fair will bring together around forty exhibitors, as well as a few artisans. This event, which attracts visitors from all over the region and beyond, highlights the importance of sustainable agriculture, respect for the environment and support for local producers. And it is no coincidence that it is in the Gard city that this major organic farming event is taking place. A true pioneer in this field, the municipality, which recently purchased a hectare of irrigated land and hired a professional market gardener trained in organic technologies, aims to become almost completely self-sufficient in preparing its 250 or so daily meals. A screening and debate around the film “Le cri de la terre” by winemaker Louis Julian will also be on the program for this great day, also marked by the presence of several musical events, a refreshment bar and catering areas.

3: Le rendez-vous des chansons à texte

In the same way that they don't eat just anything, the inhabitants of Barjac like to listen to good music. During the passage of the Midi Libre Summer Tour, the Barjac M'en Chante festival will bring together, as every year, many visitors who come to enjoy this festival of songs with lyrics, where melody and rhythm blend in harmony with the words. From July 27 to August 1, in six different locations in the village, more than thirty concerts will be organized. An event sponsored at the time by a certain Jean Ferrat, friend of Mayor Edouard Chaulet, who took pleasure in attending, like Jean-Louis Trintignant, this ode to songs of character.

What does this summer season represent for your town ?

This is a time of year when our mobilization is always at its maximum. The work continues and events follow one another throughout the summer, between the votive festival, July 14, the potters' market, the antiques and flea market fair, the jazz festival and more generally the ;all of our concerts and shows. We try to offer as diverse an offer as possible, so that everyone can find what they are looking for. I would also like to salute and thank the municipal staff, who are working hard to make this summer season a real success.

This is also the big highlight of the year in terms of tourism.

Indeed. This is a period that is decisive for our merchants. Without this tourist season, it would be very complicated to hold on. But that doesn’t stop us from having life all year round. I am happy to see that for a rural town, the village continues to operate in winter. Between art and essay cinema, the activities set up by our sports and cultural associations and many other things, Barjac can be enjoyed all year round.

What can we wish for the rest of this 2024 summer season in Barjac ?

That participation is good and that visitors come in large numbers, so that the aid that we put into these events benefits as many people as possible. I want us all to come out of this summer culturally enriched and relaxed. We all need fun and amusement.

The unmissable

Great evening of humor

Laughter, fun and humor will be the key words of the great evening that the Franck Polo Production teams will offer, on Wednesday, August 7, in the exceptional setting of the Château de Barjac (rue de l'esplanade). From 9 p.m., five comedians will take to the stage and offer their best sketches: Eric Collado, Syphax, Franck Polo as well as Redouanne Harjane and Mahé, whom the general public discovered in recent years at the Jamel Comedy Club. An evening that promises a lot and should attract many fans from the region. Tickets will cost 13 euros (information and reservations at 07.85.15.59.74).

Sweetness and music

After the first performances by Matildy, Cyril Adda and Sophie Le Cam, three new shows will liven up the new edition of the musical moments of the Jardins des Papotages. Starting on Wednesday, August 7, in the calm and quiet of this magical place, the Franco-Argentine singer Leonor Bolacatto will perform her songs and those of traditional Argentinian poets, a few days (August 21) before Patrick and Jonathan from Duo-Mathis join their musical sensibilities in a playful and experimental duo. The rock trio Zabalt will close this 2024 vintage with a final performance on August 28. Enough to delight lovers of sweetness and poetry.

Bullfighting weekend in August

It is always one of the most anticipated moments of the summer season in Barjac. On August 2, 3 and 4, the Gard city will vibrate to the rhythm of its El Torino bullfighting weekend. With the program, starting on Friday, an aperitif – grills with a concert by « Ricoune », abrivados and bandidos as well as a bodega evening with Dj Mab Animation. The next two days promise to be just as lively, with the organization of several meals, a swimming pool bullfight or even the traditional Provençal mass under the plane trees. An aperitif hosted by the children of Barjac and Loc Picos Tachos will conclude this great weekend of celebration, conviviality and sharing.
