Fente Damers a pris la deuxième place de la finale de la course reine dans un temps de 48 sec 14, soit 2/10e de mieux que le temps exigé pour valider son billet pour les JO.

French swimmer Rafael Fente Damers, who had just qualified for the Paris Games in the 100m freestyle, dislocated his shoulder while celebrating his performance on Tuesday at the French Swimming Championships.

Fente Damers took second place in the final of the queen race in a time of 48 sec 14, or 2/10th better than the time required to validate his ticket for the Olympics. To celebrate his qualification, the 17-year-old swimmer then hit the water in exultation, before writhing in pain while pointing at his left shoulder.

Direction to the hospital

Taken care of by the medical service, he was able to receive his medal on the podium, his arm in a sling, before being evacuated to the hospital. Passing through the mixed zone alongside the doctors, he seemed to enjoy the situation.

"I hope it goes well for him because’we're waiting for him to take over", reacted Maxime Grousset, winner of the race in 47 sec 33. "He’s a guy, he’s a little crazy, it’s for that’s how good it is. He is not afraid of anything and I think he will progress."
