La décision a été prise ce vendredi 28 juin suite à une analyse des eaux de baignade. L'arrêté est valable "jusqu'à nouvel ordre".

It is forbidden to swim on the southern beach of Grau-du-Roi. Alerted at midday by the Regional Health Agency following analyzes warning of a deterioration in the quality of bathing water, the mayor of the Gard port city immediately issued an order.

"The decree is valid until further notice, explains Robert Crauste. It must be printed and placed on supports at beach entrances. The municipal police nautical brigade will be on the beaches this afternoon to warn people."

An "exceptional" measure

The mayor specifies: "We have a bathing water quality control system to be able to protect populations. Generally speaking, it is exceptional that we are forced to prohibit access. There, in view of the analyses, on the southern beach of Grau-du-Roi, we made this decision, explains Robert Crauste who specifies that the origin of the degradation water quality is not known.

As soon as concerns are lifted, a new decree will allow swimmers to rediscover the pleasures of the Great Blue.  The other beaches remain free to access.
