The actor and director, known for having played Marcel Pagnol's father in "The glory of my father", was to perform on the stages of Cratère on January 30 and 31.

The decision seems to have been difficult to make on the side of the national scene in Alès. And it was during his wish ceremony this Wednesday, January 10 in the large room that Olivier Lataste, his director, informed the public present.

Targeted by an investigation for a possible “sexual offense against a minor”, the theater man Philippe Caubère, scheduled for January 30 and 31 in the large hall of the Cratère, will ultimately not give any performance.

"Despite the presumption of innocence, it seems preferable to us to wait for the follow-up which will be given to this investigation", indicates a single voice the people responsible for Cratère, but also for the Maison de l'eau d'Allègre-les-fumades and the Albarède de Ganges, who decided to cancel the actor's visit. Between January 30 and February 3, Philippe Caubère was to perform on the stage of the three locations as part of a cultural journey devoted to Letters from My Mill by Alphonse Daudet.

Refunds assured

The three cultural venues ensure the implementation of a refund for tickets already purchased by spectators. Everyone must go to the theater concerned by their reservation.

The Créteil public prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation following a complaint filed by a young woman with whom the actor had intimate relations in 2012. She was 16 years old at the time of the events. A relationship recognized by Philippe Caubère who told AFP that he had not, to date, been heard as part of this investigation. The man of the theater had, at the same time, signed the recent column supporting Gérard Depardieu.
