After successful presentations of their start-UPS in Warsaw and Berlin, the College students, the finalists of the Make It Smart – travel to Brzeg. Their goal has not changed – the team are looking for the best technological solutions to make life in their cities more comfortable.
Make It Smart: as the Ukrainian students presented their innovative projects in Warsaw
The next stop of the participants on their way through European big city – one of the best companies in Poland, which impress with their innovative solutions and automated processes, where human factor is minimized. This is a plant for recycling of Mo-Bruk, and a factory for the manufacture of filtration systems and parts, Donaldson (Filtration solutions). Large-scale production incredibly impressed by the Ukrainian students that they noted in their diaries of the trip.

“At 6 am we left for Brzeg to the factory for recycling. Was a very informative tour. The cool part is that the plant not only recycles garbage and waste from other plants, but also makes! Personally I was surprised by the scale of production and production technology,” – shares memories Artem Savenko from the team of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic.
- “Mo-Bruk” is the biggest company in Poland which is engaged in processing industrial waste and unsafe. The plant produces including alternative fuels, which are a valuable energy resource, and also according to own patented technology produces artificial aggregate used in road construction or as drainage material.

Interestingly, in the technological area of the plant are dozens of conveyor belts and the special separators, which select your type of garbage. The company also has two incinerator machines that recycle medical waste and unsafe.
“I was very surprised that next to businesses is not felt unpleasant odors! The exhaust air they have passed through special biofilters,” said Maria Filenko, member of team Dnipro Polytechnic.

Further, the Ukrainian students had the opportunity to learn how to operate a plant for the manufacture of air and hydraulic filters “Donaldson”. After listening to the historical facts about the company and the company as a whole, the team saw firsthand and production.

- Trade mark Donaldson is a brand of the premium segment and one of the leading suppliers of filters in the world. Plant in Skarbimierz built on the site of a former Soviet airfield and was opened in 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company Donaldson. At the moment the building of the plant is 13 thousand square meters, of which 10 thousand – production, the remaining 3 thousands – the warehouse of components and finished products. This enterprise is among the fastest growing plants in the world Donaldson. It produces air and hydraulic filters and cartridges for automotive engines.
“I wish to such plants appeared in Ukraine! Breathtaking on the scale of production and innovative technologies! Very cool!” – told the students of the Lviv Polytechnic.

The next day the finalists of the Make It Smart could discuss what they saw, walking already in Wroclaw. Some places the Polish city reminded them of the architecture of Lviv, and others again surprised by the reasonableness of solutions for the comfort of citizens.
“As soon as we got out of the car, the city was struck by its beauty, atmosphere and overall surprised everyone, even though we were there a couple hours”, – shared his impressions of Artem Savenko, a member of the team Dnipro Polytechnic.

Note that in Brzeg students managed to see the famous Silesian Piast castle, which is placed in its walls the Museum of the Polish Piast dynasty. It is known that the surviving written sources reach the information about existence of the castle and the city of Brzeg, even with 1235.
