QUEBEC – The Quebec government did not give its employees all the equipment they need to telework, deplores the Union of professionals of the government of Quebec (SPGQ), which requires compensation.
In a release Friday, the SPGQ is estimated that more than 90 %, the number of State employees who must work from home due to the pandemic. Therefore, they “need to be properly equipped in order to respond appropriately to the needs of the population”, supported by release Line Lamarre, president of the SPGQ.
The trade union organization in a request to the treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) to compensate staff who use their internet subscription for staff to perform their task.
“The government made savings with its employees telecommuting is a thing. Get rich on the back of employees who are not responsible for this situation is an other,” added Ms. Lamarre.
This does not explain for example why the staff must continue to pay monthly for their parking space at work, even if the location is unoccupied since march.
“Our members are not asking to be reimbursed for the toilet paper or coffee, they just want employers to recognize and compensate for the lack of adequate equipment for some and some,” said the president of the SPGQ.
