Tennis: a record-breaking and high-profile 2024 Open on the TC Barrou courts

No fewer than 355 players responded.

From singles to doubles, from adults to the "over 65s", there was plenty of entertainment at Le Barrou.

Coming from all over France, on a competition tour or on vacation, no fewer than 355 participants took to the courts of the Tennis Club du Barrou for the Open 2024. Thus setting a new attendance record for the Sète event, whose friendly spirit is appreciated by many players.

A high level in the main draw

Under the leadership of Aurélie Fouillé, referee, and the club volunteers, the players competed in many categories, from singles to doubles, from adult categories to “over 65”.

In the main draw, marked by a very high level, victory went to Veronika Podrez (n° 26 French, AS Meudon Tennis) in the girls' category and to Tomas Rengel Sierra (-4/6, TC Saint-Estève) in the boys' category.

The locals also shone

Many players from the pool de Thau also distinguished themselves throughout this tournament, like Nancy Delmas, Louis Benvenuto, Didier Poujouly, Cédric and Deva Paniagua, Brice Pareja, Nino Simonetti and Téo Zamelczyk (TC Barrou), as well as Guilhem Roux (5/6), Nathalie Amiel and Marie-Claire Leveque (TC La Peyrade).

TC Barrou also wanted to make a special mention of Caroline Vidal, for her career over the past two years within the French deaf and hard of hearing team.

The season then continued on the courts of Barrou with the qualifications, from August 5 to 11, for the “National Tennis Cup”. The Campus Tennis Academy courses are also on the program. Information at 04 67 53 43 78.
