Tennis: Andy Murray absent at Roland-Garros

Scotsman Andy Murray has withdrawn from the French Open tennis tournament to be held from May 22 to June 11. 

His name did not appear not on the list of players registered for the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Murray's last appearance at Roland-Garros dates back to 2020 and he lost in the first round against Stanislas Wawrinka.

The 42nd player on the world chessboard has reached four times in 11 participations in this tournament.

Murray said in February that hosting the Wimbledon tournament offered him the best chance for Grand Slam success.

The 36-year-old won the Challenger d'Aix -in Provence last May.

In addition to Murray, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal announced Thursday that he will be absent from the French Open for the first time since 2004 due to an injury .
