A shooting involving several people in Alabama, in the southern United States, has left at least four dead and dozens injured, police announced on Sunday, September 22.
“We believe multiple shooters fired multiple rounds at a group of people” in a Birmingham neighborhood Saturday night, police officer Truman Fitzgerald told local media.
Three adults, two men and a woman, were found on the sidewalk with fatal gunshot wounds, while a fourth victim died at a local hospital, he said.

Police have not yet made any arrests, he said, urging the public to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.
Firefighters responded Saturday night and cordoned off the area. With more guns than people, the United States has the highest gun-related death rate of any developed country.
Shootings are a recurring scourge that successive governments have so far failed to stem, with many Americans remaining very attached to their guns.
