The Amnesty Béziers group is looking for volunteers

In Béziers, the branch of the Amnesty France group wishes to "mobilize youth". This Saturday, February 3, for the regional general assembly, the president of the national association will honor his presence.

This Saturday, February 3, Béziers will host the regional general assembly of Amnesty France at the Daniel-Cordier house. Nicole Périé, the secretary of the Amesty Béziers group, is proud to host this event, she who is a historic member of Amnesty."I registered with Amnesty when I begin to work. Now retired, the volunteer seems very comfortable in her role in which she invests herself fully. A mission that she explains: "Our main task is, what we call, the DH. We are supposed to raise awareness about what human rights are. These are set out in the thirty articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights written in 1948. And I want to emphasize the fact that it is not the same as the Declaration of Human Rights and the citizen of 1789. People often confuse the two." A text that is very dear to him: "It's the only text in the world that unites us all, the alone. And yet it seems little-known."

"Changing the laws of countries"

In the Amnesty Béziers group, there are eleven volunteers who work on different actions throughout the year. They carry out human rights education interventions in several high schools and colleges, hold information stands during the association forum and various markets, raise awareness about the fight against violence against to women and raise funds. Their headliner action takes place every year in December at the André-Malraux media library with the "10 days to sign" campaign. "For two days, we set up a stand in the entrance hall and presented ten petitions representing cases of human rights violations around the world in order to get them signed and to change the laws of the countries. "

Volunteers meet every first Wednesday of the month at Maison Daniel-Cordier. The association is looking for volunteers to carry out other actions: "Overall, the age is high, 8 of us out of 11 are retired.
