Federation of sports USA gymnastics (USA Gymnastics), around which there was a scandal in connection with the harassment to underage female athletes from the former women’s national team doctor Larry Nassar, filed for bankruptcy.
This was reported on Wednesday in the electronic version of the newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
According to the newspaper, USA Gymnastics, has the status of non-governmental organizations, filed in Federal court in the us Indianapolis (Indiana) a petition for recognition of its bankruptcy and protection from creditors.
As noted in the article of the newspaper, through the scandal, the Federation recently faced serious financial difficulties.
Last month, the national Olympic Committee of the USA has initiated the recall procedure in the USA Gymnastics its current powers. Earlier, the scandal around the Nassar made the President of Federation of sports gymnastics Carrie parry to resign.
In January of this year Nassar was sentenced to a term of imprisonment from 40 to 175 years for sexual violence against women. He confessed to sexually assaulting and committing acts of a sexual nature in relation to 11 gymnasts who testified against him were given more than 150 women.
Last year Nassar has already been sentenced to 60 years in prison for possession of child pornography. In 2016, the law enforcement officers found on the hard drive of his computer a large archive of related materials.
