The best drinking water in North America?

With its “best drinking water in Quebec”, the City of Sherbrooke is trying its luck at a North American competition.
From June 12 to 14, two employees of the Urban Infrastructure Department will travel to Las Vegas. They will represent the City at the congress organized by the American Water Works Association (AWWA).

It is at this time that the best drinking water competition in North America will be held, whose official title is “Best of the Best Taste Test”.
The organization has been in existence for over 135 years and has approximately 50,000 members. Virtually all municipalities producing drinking water across Canada and the United States are directly or indirectly linked to AWWA, a press release said.
“This association has been organizing a competition for a few years to crown the municipality that produces the best drinking water in North America. Having won the Quebec contest last October, the City of Sherbrooke is automatically the designated representative of Quebec, “says one.
“To participate in this North American competition, cities must be represented on the spot.”

The City of Sherbrooke will then try to succeed the city of Greeley, Colorado, which won the title last year.
The City of Sherbrooke received the award for “Best Municipal Water in Quebec” at the Symposium on Water Management held in Lévis last October. The event brought together more than 350 experts in the field of water.
In total, 26 municipalities were honored as part of Network Environment’s water excellence programs. The J.-M.-Jeanson Station of the City of Sherbrooke also won the honors of the Jury Prize.
