The P.-O. on orange heatwave alert

#METEO Faced with the crushing heat, the Pyrénées-Orientales are moving to orange heatwave alert this Tuesday, August 6 at noon, announces L’Indépendant. It is the only department in France to switch to orange heatwave alert. According to Météo-France, during the day, the mercury should not exceed 35 degrees over the next three days. But it is the minimum temperatures that will continue to rise.

“This Monday, August 5, for example, the minimum temperatures in the Pyrénées-Orientales fluctuate between 19 and 22 degrees, indicates Adrian Bourgois, forecaster at Météo France. From Tuesday, they will be between 24 and 26 degrees. And this, until Friday, at least. It is at daybreak that these lowest temperatures will be recorded.

The nights are expected to be stifling. The tramontane should blow between 40 and 60 km/hour. “This is what will contribute to maintaining the high temperatures. The mixing of (warm) air prevents temperatures from dropping."

Today's figure: 100

#LE CAP D’AGDE A loggerhead turtle has laid a hundred eggs on the beach at La Roquille. A first for the seaside resort. During this period of high attendance, a security perimeter has been set up around the spawning area and patrols are in place.

However, we will have to wait about fifty days, until the end of September, to observe the hatching of the eggs and see the wriggles reach the sea and set sail.
